Intertek Confirms Activate™ uTP™ Performance

Intertek Confirms Activate™ uTP™ Performance

Remee submitted several of its Activate™ uTP™ cables for testing by Intertek, a Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide. This PoE cable submission included testing of both data and power pairs. The scope of work for Intertek included the functional performance testing of these extended distance cabling systems to support 10BASE‐T, 100BASE‐T, and 1000BASE‐T operation. As a result, the cable has been verified and approved to meet IEEE standard 802.3bt™-2018 as a standard for Ethernet.

Tests on the data pair components of Remee’s Activate™ uTP™ cables confirmed data transmission was achieved with NO Bit Error Rates (BER) or Frame Check Sequence (FCS) errors at the following lengths and rate combinations. In addition, NO errors were identified for Link Loss Events and LDCP Frames.

The tests included Activate™ uTP™ plenum, riser, and outside plant/wet location cables to establish and confirm the data rates and distances as published above.

Intertek also tested the power pairs of Remee’s Activate™ uTP™ cables. The scope of work included functional performance testing of these extended distance cabling systems to support IEEE Std 802.3bt™ for Type 4 remote powering applications. As a result, the cable has been verified and approved to meet IEEE standard 802.3bt™ for Ethernet, Amendment 2: Physical Layer and Management Parameters for Power Over Ethernet over 4 Pairs.

Electrical transmission tests were performed on the channel configuration using Remee’s Activate™ uTP™ cables, and they were found to be fully compliant. The results shown below were obtained for the relevant tests contained in IEEE 802.3bt™ for functional power delivery and DC resistance parameters.

The tests further revealed the cables are compliant with IEEE 802.3bt Section 145.1.3 (DC loop resistance), 145A.1 (DC resistance unbalance within a pair), and 145A.3 (DC resistance unbalance between pairs). Covered in other parts of the standard, functional power delivery was found to be compliant.
