ClearCast™ SMPTE 311 Hybrid Camera Cables

With the advent of 4K ultra high-definition cameras, and 8K soon to follow, the industry realized that copper cables will not be able to carry the UHD signals far enough. Coax and triax were insufficient to go the distances needed for carrying HD-SDI video signals at many broadcast venues, such as sports arenas, golf courses, and other applications requiring longer distances. Even the highest performing coax would only travel about 1,000 feet with HD-SDI video.

So, the industry adopted high-bandwidth fiber optic cabling solutions, and SMPTE 311 became the standard solution to meet the newer distance and signal integrity requirements. New SMPTE 311 hybrid cables have been designed exclusively for use with HD cameras to meet these new requirements. These composite cables can multiplex audio signals and video signals and deliver power to the camera. A hybrid combination of copper conductor cables and fiber optic cables serve this purpose.

Depending on the application and conditions, the hybrid copper and fiber combination may require some flexibility or flame retardancy. The Remee line of SMPTE 311 cables provides a variety of cables to meet these needs, covering a range of requirements for broadcasting.

In addition to allowing longer lengths than coax or triax, SMPTE hybrid cables do not increase weight. They are more flexible and their strength members provide durability for continued use.

SMPTE 311 cables are used for transmission in arenas, stadiums and for sporting events and large venues where long cable runs are needed. Some of the cameras that use SMPTE 311 cables include Alexa Fiber Remote, JVC GY-HM790, Sony cameras with HDCU-2500, Grass Valley LDX Series and Ikegami camera systems.

ClearCast™ Audio & Speaker Cables

Remee’s line-up of CH Series pro-audio cables feature hi-strand conductors for maximum flexibility. All cables are unshielded, use oxygen-free copper, are suitable for outdoor use and CL3R rated.

ClearCast™ 6 GHz UHD (4K) Precision Video Coax Cables

Another recent addition to the Remee Broadcast Cable line-up, these Precision Video Digital Coax cables operate at 6 GHz for 4K video resolution. These 75 ohm cables are used for HD/SDI, standard SDI or other high resolution video applications. Each cable features a dual shield: an inner coax shielding tape plus and outer 95% coverage tin copper braid shield. All cables include a solid bare copper conductor and outer PVC jacket. They are CMR riser rated and 100% sweep tested to 6.0 GHz.
